The DC-3

Most aircraft historians know there are few planes of more historic significance than the Douglas DC-3. This is the Moorabbin Museum's own example, which is presently being refurbished. Most of the museum's Saturday volunteers are working on the Three, which is set to be moved to the front of the airfield as a Gate Guard in the near future. The grey paint on the underside has been freshly applied.

The yellow Hyundai Getz in the foreground (not my own car) lends some scale to the size of this majestic bird. The museum also has a DC-2, the earlier model, which is in a similar state of assembly and may replace the Three once it moves.
